Experts Predict Flu Cases Surge in Early January

The Ministry of Health emphasizes the need for protection against respiratory viruses, as increased activity is observed, mainly seasonal influenza. It recommends adherence to basic protective measures, such as regular hand washing, avoiding touching the face, and limiting contact with sick people. Additionally, it highlights the importance of vaccination as the best measure to prevent severe illness and death from influenza. According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the risk to the general population is moderate, but high for vulnerable groups. The Ministry calls on anyone experiencing respiratory infection symptoms to stay home and consult their doctor. Subclade K of the influenza A (H3N2) virus is dominant worldwide this year, and experts predict a surge in cases in early January.
