“You Have a 2.5-Meter Python on You”: A Couple’s Shocking Wake-Up Call in Australia

A couple in Brisbane, Australia, experienced a startling wake-up call when they discovered a 2.5-meter python in their bed. Rachel Bloor initially mistook the snake for her dog while half-asleep, but quickly realized she was touching something smooth and slippery. Her partner informed her of the python's presence and urged her to remain still. With composure, Bloor removed the dogs from the room to prevent any sudden reactions that could escalate the situation. She then carefully and slowly extricated herself from the bed, questioning if it was a dream. She believes the python entered the house through the exterior window shutters. After freeing herself, Bloor gently guided the snake back towards the opening it had come through. She noted that the python was so large that even when coiled on her, part of its tail remained outside the window. During the removal process, the snake did not appear particularly agitated. Bloor, raised in a rural area, stated she is accustomed to snakes and that maintaining calmness is crucial in such situations. No one was injured during the incident. The snake was identified as a carpet python, a non-venomous species commonly found in the region and typically feeds on small animals.
