A rescue operation is underway on Mount Taygetus for eight climbers stranded near the Prophet Elias peak. Authorities have reached the group, and four climbers have descended to the shelter, where they were picked up by ambulances to be transported to Sparta Hospital. Another four climbers are injured, with a woman reportedly sustaining the most serious injuries, and are descending towards the shelter, with two being carried on stretchers. The operation is hampered by strong winds that initially prevented helicopter access. The Fire Department has mobilized 41 firefighters with mountain rescue teams from the 1st and 6th EMAC, as well as the 9th EMODE, to assist in the rescue.
