“Ancient Tragedy” in Primary Schools Due to Student Registration System

The electronic student registration system is causing significant problems for the hourly-paid staff in primary schools. A representative of the 'Equality' trade union described the situation as an “ancient tragedy”, stating that secretaries and headteachers are working even during the Christmas holidays to manage the issues arising from the eDEA system and the continuous instructions from the Ministry of Education. The problem lies in the complexity of the system and the large workload it creates, making it difficult for schools to operate smoothly.
