These are the Ages When Our Brains Change

Scientists at the University of Cambridge have identified four critical ages – 9, 32, 66, and 83 – at which the pattern of connections in the brain changes significantly. The study, based on thousands of brain scans, showed that the brain develops and changes in different phases of life. Until the age of 9, communication between brain regions is rapid but not very efficient. From 9 to 32, the brain matures and becomes more efficient. After 32, the brain enters a period of stability lasting until 66, when aging begins. The study may help understand brain-related diseases and promote healthy aging.
