Bartholomew: Peace in 2026 and End to Wars

Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his wish for peace throughout the world, especially in areas plagued by wars and conflicts, such as Ukraine, the Middle East, and Sudan. During the cutting of the Vasilopita (New Year's cake) at the Ecumenical Patriarchate, he wished for the stability of the Churches and the unity of the Romiosyne (Greek Orthodox community). He also emphasized the need to reopen the Holy Theological School of Halki, highlighting the right of the diaspora to have its own theological school. Pope Francis, for his part, also wished for peace, reminding that January 1st has been celebrated as World Peace Day since 1968, and called on everyone to disarm their hearts and refrain from all violence.
