The President of the House Legal Affairs Committee, Nikos Tornaritis, announced that he has instructed a study on parliamentary immunity, examining the legal framework in other countries. The discussion on the issue arose following a proposal by DISY to limit immunity so that it does not cover all offenses. The Attorney General also participated in the discussion, proposing different treatment for offenses not related to the performance of a Member of Parliament's duties. Representatives of the AKEL and DIKO parties expressed their agreement with the proposal, while Mr. Tornaritis emphasized the intention of Members of Parliament to discuss the issue and find a sustainable solution.
