Yiannos Oxinos: "Everything Must Come to Light" - Assessing the TAKATA Report

Yiannos Oxinos, father of Kyriakos Oxinos who lost his life due to defective Takata airbags, expressed his disappointment with the handling of the case. In a post, he recounts meeting Alexandros Lougos, another survivor of a Takata airbag accident, and denounces the fact that despite Lougos's serious injury, TOM requested a recall of his vehicle shortly before the Christodoulou report was released, without any apology. Oxinos links Lougos's accident to his son's death, as both involved BMW cars of the same year of manufacture, which BMW Germany had classified as dangerous to drive. He points out that BMW sent standard letters to owners, without mentioning the fatal risk. Oxinos accuses the company of failing to inform vehicle owners, despite having their details from servicing for 12 years. He expressed his disappointment with the lack of response from Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis after a meeting they had, and mentions that the mobilization of MPs after the death of Styliani Giorgalli led to some results. He calls for everything to come to light regarding the Takata case and for responsibilities to be investigated, in order to prevent future accidents. His post is a strong criticism of the case management and the lack of public information.
