Greenland Rejects US Claims on its Mineral Resources

Greenland has rejected attempts by the United States to claim part of its mineral resources, emphasizing that no foreign country should decide on the wealth of the Arctic. Greenland's Minister of Mineral Resources, Naaja Nathanielsen, stated that the country will not allow the future of its mining sector to be determined by external forces, even if it means rejecting proposals for supervisory boards. Greenland possesses significant quantities of rare earths and other valuable metals, but their exploitation is limited. Denmark and Greenland agreed that there is a path for cooperation with the US, but Greenland's sovereignty over its resources is non-negotiable.
