Lie Detector Test Introduced at Gothenburg Film Festival

The Gothenburg Film Festival is introducing a unique and unconventional trial: a lie detector test for its audience. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to undergo polygraph examination under the supervision of an expert, and those who pass will receive a "Truth Ticket" for a screening. The festival's artistic director, Pia Lundberg, stated that this initiative aims to highlight the value of truth in an age where it is easily negotiable. The festival seeks to create an experiment where lying has consequences, transforming truth into something that can be earned and spent. The idea stemmed from the observation that honesty is often undervalued in the modern world, while personal narratives can overshadow reality. The 49th Gothenburg Film Festival will take place from January 23rd to February 1st, 2026.
