Prison Inmate Murdered in Korydallos Prison

A 49-year-old Albanian inmate was murdered in Korydallos Prison by a 28-year-old Greek man using a makeshift knife. The victim had been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, grievous bodily harm, and illegal possession of weapons, having escaped in 2015 and been rearrested in 2024. He was in the process of being extradited to Albania to serve additional sentences. The perpetrator, also an inmate, had been charged with murder and drug offenses last September. The Hellenic Police (ELAS) is investigating the incident, with some reports suggesting a hit contract, although the motives remain unclear. The murder has triggered an alert among authorities.
