Coastal areas such as Palermo, Messina, Syracuse and Catania have suffered significant damage from Cyclone 'Harry'. Authorities are evacuating residents from ground floor homes, while homes and shops have been flooded and hundreds of trees have fallen. Fishing activities, a key pillar of the island's economy, have also suffered significant damage. Similar problems have been reported in Calabria.
