Axylou Community Leader: "No Second-Class Citizens"

The community leader of Axylou, Foti Pisias, expressed his disappointment with the long-standing indifference of the state to the community's needs. Axylou, a village settled by refugees after 1974, faces serious housing problems, with many homes being old and in poor condition. Ten houses still have asbestos roofs, endangering the health of residents, while makeshift replacements with corrugated iron worsen living conditions. Furthermore, there are three abandoned refugee homes, despite existing applications for settlement, and the community lacks a cemetery due to bureaucratic delays. Mr. Pisias emphasized that Axylou is not asking for privileges, but simply for decent living conditions and equal treatment.
