Daredevil Climber Scales Taipei 101 Skyscraper Without Safety Gear

American climber Alex Honnold has completed a breathtaking ascent of the Taipei 101 skyscraper in Taiwan without the use of ropes or any other safety equipment. The climb, which lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes, was on a 508-meter, 101-story building. Honnold is known for his free solo climbs, having previously scaled El Capitan in California without safety gear. The Taipei 101 climb was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed due to bad weather. After completing the climb, Honnold commented succinctly: “Sick.” The ascent was broadcast live and garnered significant public interest.
