Israelis Largely Support Participation in Attack on Iran

A vast majority of Israelis (70%) support Israel's participation in a potential US attack on Iran, according to a poll by the 'Maariv' newspaper. However, opinions vary depending on the political camp. 44% of respondents believe the attack should only occur if Iran attacks or prepares to attack Israel, while 26% support an attack in any case. A smaller majority (19%) suggests leaving the matter solely to the Americans. Voters of the governing coalition are more likely to support Israeli involvement, with 41% favoring an attack regardless of circumstances. In contrast, within the opposition, 16% support Israeli participation in any case, while 29% believe the attack should be left to the Americans. The Israeli public is divided regarding the fear of personal harm from a potential conflict, with 46% expressing concern and 46% not worrying. This distribution is similar in both political camps. Meanwhile, Israeli media report that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked Donald Trump to delay a scheduled military strike on Iran, citing the strain on Israeli anti-aircraft defense systems and doubts about the rapid collapse of the Iranian regime.
