London's FTSE 100 Breaks 10,000-Point Barrier for the First Time

The FTSE 100 index in London surpassed 10,000 points for the first time in early trading on Friday, extending an upward trend seen throughout 2025. This increase is partly attributed to cuts in British and US interest rates as global inflation subsides. Additionally, a significant contribution to the index's rise came from a surge in the share price of gold mining company Fresnillo, which jumped 436% last year due to the rising price of gold. Stock markets worldwide reached historic highs in 2025, posting double-digit gains.
