Private Sector Takes Over Contract Renewals - Concerns for Dockworkers

Following the completion of major sectoral agreements, a new round of negotiations is beginning for the renewal of operational contracts in the private sector, affecting several thousand employees. The most challenging case is expected to be the renewal of the collective agreement for dockworkers, due to the involvement of three different companies (Eurogate, D.P World, and a shipping agents' company) and the complexity of work processes at the port. Employees are expected to demand wage increases, improved benefits, and a resolution to the issue of Provident Funds. Simultaneously, discussions will begin for sectoral agreements in public transport, woodworking, and car imports. Negotiations will involve the participation of employer organizations and trade unions, with contract durations typically lasting 2 or 3 years.
