Turkish Cypriot Leader Criticizes Cyprus President's Statements

The Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman, strongly criticized statements made by the President of Cyprus regarding the 1821 anniversary, characterizing them as warlike and implying a lack of willingness to find a solution. He also reacted to President Christodoulides' intention to discuss the issue of British Bases with London, arguing that Turkey and Turkish Cypriots must be involved in any discussion. Despite his reactions, Erhürman's stance indirectly recognizes the Republic of Cyprus and the agreements that underpin it, despite Ankara's official refusal to recognize it. President Christodoulides responded that Turkish Cypriots can have a say in the negotiation of the Bases only after their return to the Republic of Cyprus.
