DISY Postpones Meeting on Nikos Sykas' Candidacy Pending Court Decision

The meeting of the Democratic Rally (DISY) Political Bureau scheduled for today, regarding the candidacy of MP Nikos Sykas on the party's ballot for the upcoming parliamentary elections, has been postponed. The decision was made following an opinion from the President of the party's Legal Council, due to the pending application for the lifting of Sykas' immunity in the Supreme Court. The application for the lifting of immunity is related to an investigation conducted by the Police, following a complaint filed against the MP. DISY believes that the outcome of the legal proceedings will influence the final decision on his candidacy. According to a party announcement, the meeting will take place after the hearing and the issuance of the Supreme Court's decision. Until then, the previous statements of the President and the recommendation of the Executive Bureau remain in effect. The postponement indicates DISY's attention to upholding the law and protecting the party's image ahead of the parliamentary elections. The final decision on Nikos Sykas' candidacy will be made after the Supreme Court issues its decision regarding the lifting of his immunity.
