Sold the House, Pocketed the Money, and the Heirs are Still Waiting – Jail Sentence After 10-Year Trial

Two brothers, owners of a company, were sentenced to five months in prison by the Court of Appeal for stealing funds from the sale of a house in Pissouri. The case, which lasted 10 years, concerned the company’s refusal to pay the heirs of the deceased owner the agreed amount from the sale. The company had undertaken the sale of the house, which took place in 2016, but never paid the amount of €41,122.48 to the heirs. Despite promises and the appointment of an administrator to the company due to debts, no attempt was made to compensate them. The administrator of the deceased’s estate took legal action against the company and its owners with a private criminal prosecution. The Court of Appeal, in its decision, emphasized the lack of any act of remorse by the convicted and ruled that a prison sentence was necessary.
