Offensive Comments, Physical Violence and Threats: Details of the Complaint Against Sykas

Following the lifting of his parliamentary immunity, MP Sykas will be called to testify regarding his partner's allegations of physical violence and threats, which allegedly occurred on New Year's Eve. The case has attracted significant attention, as the complainant initially stated that she had no complaints, citing psychological pressure due to the publicity of the case and the defendant's status as a public figure. The Legal Service believes that four offenses punishable by more than two years' imprisonment have been committed, including the exercise of physical and psychological violence, threats and assault. The lifting of immunity allows for a full criminal investigation of the case. The MP's side insists that there is insufficient evidence to substantiate the case, as there is no testimony from the complainant. However, the lifting of immunity opens the way for the MP to be brought before the justice system and all aspects of the case to be examined. The MP's lawyer did not object to the Deputy Attorney General's request to lift the immunity, suggesting that the MP's side does not oppose the criminal investigation.
