Temporary Operation Permits Proposed for Unlicensed Hotels in Cyprus

A bill has been proposed to allow hotels without licenses to operate temporarily, aiming to resolve a long-standing issue. The proposal provides for the issuance of a temporary permit or special mark for one year, allowing hotels to continue operating while gathering the necessary certificates. The proposal appears to be well-received by hoteliers and political parties, provided that strict requirements for final licensing are maintained. MP Kyriakos Hadjigiannis, who submitted the bill, emphasized that the implementation of comprehensive fire protection plans will be a basic requirement. This proposal is considered more realistic than the successive extensions that have been granted in the past.
