How Often Should You Ventilate Your Space During Winter - What Times are 'Forbidden' and Why?

Ventilating indoor spaces is an essential habit, especially during winter. This is because closed windows can accumulate pollutants, carbon dioxide, and moisture, which can negatively affect our health. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), exchanging indoor air reduces risks and contributes to a healthy environment. It is not recommended to ventilate your home between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. in winter due to peak human activity, heavy traffic, and increased emissions. Stagnant air can worsen asthma, allergies, and other respiratory conditions. Experts recommend short and frequent ventilation (5-10 minutes) one or more times a day, preferably during warmer hours or after moisture-generating activities.
