Warning Signal from Dr. Loizidou Regarding Water: "The most basic good is falling into private hands"

Dr. Xenia Loizidou, a civil engineer and president of the AKTI Research and Study Center, warned about the critical situation with water in Cyprus, emphasizing that the problem is not only due to weather conditions, but mainly to political choices and omissions of the last two decades. Dr. Loizidou stated that Cyprus is being affected by climate change faster than the global average, resulting in less rainfall and extreme weather events. Furthermore, she expressed serious concerns about the privatization of desalination plants, as this could lead to price increases and financial burden on the state.
