Cyprus National Guard Pursues Modernization with Technological Upgrades

The Cyprus National Guard is undergoing a modernization process, with an emphasis on technological upgrades and strengthening its deterrent capabilities. The Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Emmanouil Theodorou, stated that the force continuously assesses and adapts to modern developments in warfare. Defense collaborations with countries such as France and Israel play a significant role in the modernization, through participation in arms programs. Cooperation with the United States, which includes exercises, joint training, and exchange of expertise, is also considered positive and contributes to the upgrading of the institutional framework for cooperation on defense and security issues. Chief Theodorou emphasized that Cyprus is consolidating its position as a reliable regional partner in security matters. Strengthening deterrent capabilities, maintaining critical systems in full operational condition, and leveraging new technologies are the main pillars of the modernization process. According to the Chief, Cyprus is closely monitoring developments in the region and is prepared to face any challenges. Continuous adaptation to modern requirements and strengthening international collaborations are considered essential elements for ensuring the security and stability of Cyprus.
