CYPRODAT Available for Loan Support and Information

The Cyprus Association for the Protection of Bank Borrowers (CYPRODAT) has announced its availability to provide information, guidance, and support to borrowers in Cyprus, given the current challenges in the banking sector and housing loans. Recent reports indicate that Cyprus is among the Eurozone countries with the lowest mortgage interest rates, theoretically facilitating citizens' access to housing. However, Cypriot banks continue to struggle with reducing Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) due to a lack of sustainable borrowers, limiting the granting of new loans. Concurrently, the Cypriot government is working to complete the 'Affordable Housing Plan,' aiming to address the housing problem and support households struggling to meet housing costs. CYPRODAT recognizes the need for a balance between financial stability, sustainable lending, and social needs for affordable housing. The Association emphasizes that providing information and support to borrowers is crucial for a better understanding of mortgage data and finding sustainable solutions. This approach is considered a responsible contribution to addressing the challenges and promoting the well-being of all stakeholders. In summary, CYPRODAT reaffirms its commitment to standing by borrowers, offering assistance and guidance during a period of increased economic uncertainty and housing challenges in Cyprus.
