Cyprus has been experiencing extreme weather conditions since yesterday afternoon, with heavy rainfall causing floods and travel difficulties in many areas of the island. Images and videos circulating on social media show roads transformed into 'rivers', causing concern among citizens. The Meteorological Service has issued a yellow warning, which remains in effect. The phenomena are expected to subside after noon, however, authorities are urging citizens to be particularly careful, especially in areas where water runoff is strong. The weather forecast predicts cloudy skies with local showers and isolated thunderstorms today, with a possibility of hail during the storms and snow or sleet in the higher mountains. Winds will be light to moderate, with possible strengthening on the coasts. Tonight, intermittent cloudiness is expected, with light to moderate north-easterly winds. The temperature will drop significantly, with a possibility of frost in the mountains. Sunday and Monday will be partly cloudy, while Tuesday is expected to worsen with rain and thunderstorms. The temperature will remain at relatively high levels for the season.
