Darkness Falls on New Year's Eve in Buenos Aires – Over 45,000 Households Without Power

Large parts of Buenos Aires, Argentina, were plunged into darkness on New Year's Eve due to a power outage. More than 45,000 households were left without electricity, affecting customers of Edesur and Edenor. The outages began between 01:00 and 02:00 (Cyprus time) and lasted for over 4 hours in some areas, such as San Cristóbal. The cause of the outage was a fault at a substation, which impacted several others in the capital and surrounding areas. Technical teams are working to restore power gradually. The disruption occurred amid a heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 30°C.
