Published January 22, 2026, 11:32

ELAM has expressed its solidarity with the Syrian Kurds, condemning the attacks they are facing from the Syrian regime with the support of Turkey. The party described the massacres of the Kurds as a crime that is part of a broader context of Islamic barbarism, while also pointing out the persecution of Christians and the repression in Iran. ELAM criticized the selective sensitivity of the Left and its allies, emphasizing their silence in the face of crimes committed by authoritarian regimes. It argued that the defense of human rights must be universal and not selective. The party stated that it stands in solidarity with the Kurds, Christians, and all religious and ethnic minorities persecuted by fanaticism and authoritarianism. Furthermore, ELAM acknowledged the Turkish dimension in the Cyprus issue, emphasizing that a solution against Turkey is unfeasible. The party stressed the importance of confidence-building measures and the need for a comprehensive approach to resolving conflicts.
