Trump Delays Furniture Tariffs for One Year

Donald Trump announced a one-year delay in the increase of tariffs on certain imported furniture, just before the scheduled effective date of the measure. Specifically, the 30% tariffs on certain upholstered furniture and 50% on kitchen cabinets are postponed until January 2027. The decision comes amid ongoing negotiations regarding wood product imports and in an effort to reach better deals with other countries. The initial imposition of tariffs was aimed at protecting US production, however, concerns were raised about the lack of sufficient manufacturing capacity in the US.
