Trump on China and Wind Turbines – Says What He Wants, Pays Tax?

Donald Trump, during a speech at Davos, referred to the production and export of wind turbines from China, claiming that China produces few for domestic use and many for export to other countries. According to data, China has an installed wind power capacity of 520 GW and an annual production of 992 TWh, while the European Union has 231 GW and 475 TWh respectively, and the US has 155 GW and 453 TWh. China's annual wind turbine exports in 2024 were 5.2 GW. Euronews points out that China's wind production in 2024 accounted for 40% of global production, while in April 2025, wind and solar energy covered more than 26% of the country's energy needs. Euronews mocks Trump, stating that despite his inability to locate wind farms in China, the country has the largest wind farm in the world, located in the Gansu desert and visible from space.
