UK Reaffirms Support for Ukraine and Eastern Mediterranean Drilling

The UK Foreign Office has underscored the strategic importance of drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean, reaffirming its support for ongoing efforts in collaboration with the US and the EU. Simultaneously, it reiterated its unwavering support for Ukraine, describing the Russian invasion as an “unprovoked, premeditated and barbaric attack.” The UK remains committed to achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, working closely with international allies. Furthermore, it highlighted the effectiveness of international sanctions against Russia, which have restricted the country’s access to significant financial resources, exceeding $450 billion, and hampered its ability to fund the war. The UK has imposed sanctions on over 2,900 individuals, entities, and vessels, freezing over £20 billion. Finally, the importance of cooperation to diversify away from Russian energy and support for the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU regarding Ukraine was emphasized.
