Fraudulent SMS Impersonating GESY Steal Citizen Passwords

Published December 30, 2025, 11:22

The Cybercrime Sub-Directorate has received reports of suspicious SMS messages impersonating the GESY (Cyprus Health Services). These messages falsely claim there is a problem with the connection to the GESY electronic portal and lead users to a malicious link (phishing) to steal passwords. Police are warning the public not to respond to such messages, not to disclose personal information and passwords, and to verify the authenticity of messages requesting credentials. In case of a breach, it is recommended to immediately change the password and secure the account.
