iPhone: The Unknown Feature That Can Stop Hackers If Disabled

The increasing reliance on technology brings with it heightened risks to personal data security. Hackers are using increasingly sophisticated tools, enhanced by artificial intelligence, to carry out digital scams, such as money theft and identity theft. Experts warn that future scams will be even more convincing and dangerous, especially if users do not regularly update their device security settings. Mobile phone theft is a common occurrence, but accessing data does not always require physical contact. Malicious users can attempt to intercept data simply by bringing the device close to the victim's phone. This is possible through advanced methods that exploit the connectivity features of mobile phones. In this context, cybersecurity experts and social media users are advising iPhone owners to disable a lesser-known setting related to AirPlay. Every additional connectivity feature carries a potential risk, and enabling these features unnecessarily can create vulnerabilities. Specifically, a hacker could set up a device that transmits AirPlay and automatically connect to a vulnerable iPhone, potentially gaining access to a large amount of the device's data. Devices configured to accept AirPlay from "the same network" or from "everyone" are particularly vulnerable. Disabling "Automatic AirPlay" in iPhone settings (Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > Automatic AirPlay) can limit this risk.
