Erhurman Ready for Meeting with UN Envoy Olguin

The Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, stated he is ready for the meeting with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, at the end of the month. His goal is to accelerate work at the technical level and for Holguin's visit to yield concrete results towards creating a climate for a solution. Erhurman mentioned that technical discussions and diplomatic contacts are ongoing, while emphasizing the importance of reaching a settlement in the Cyprus issue. He also addressed the issue of direct flights, stating that it is very important for Turkish Cypriots and that they will not abandon their demands. Finally, he commented on the practice of officials visiting the Green Line, expressing the view that he does not take it very seriously under current conditions.
