Anti-Corruption Authority Defers Investigation into Video Due to Ongoing Criminal Probe

The Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) announced that it cannot conduct an investigation into the video that circulated on the X platform, as a criminal investigation has already been launched by the Legal Service and the Police. The Authority notes that, according to legislation, it is not permitted to conduct parallel investigations when a criminal procedure is already underway. However, the IAAC will remain in constant communication with the Legal Service to be informed of developments and will provide any assistance needed to investigate the criminal aspects of lobbying legislation. The Authority states that it has studied the video in detail and has received numerous requests for an ex officio investigation. The video, published by an account named Emily Thompson, has sparked strong reactions and questions about potential violations of legislation and ethical rules. The IAAC emphasizes that the Legal Service mobilized immediately to investigate the relevant aspects and that the Authority will cooperate closely with it.
