The Limassol District Court issued a six-day detention order against two brothers, aged 30 and 20, in connection with the attempted murder of a 36-year-old man, which took place on December 20, 2025, on Independence Street. The two men had been wanted and were arrested on January 3 by the British Bases Police, following a dramatic boat chase in the Ormideia area. Police are also investigating the role of the father of the two brothers, who allegedly intervened to secure the boat used in the attempted escape. The charges against the brothers include conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, assault, possession of a weapon, and carrying a knife. According to the investigation, the attempted murder took place around 7:00 PM, when a group of individuals attacked the victim while he was in a cafe. The attackers used electric shock devices and then one of them injured the 36-year-old with a sharp object. The injured man was transported to a private hospital in Limassol, where he was found to have a serious injury to his left shoulder blade. The case is under investigation, and more details are expected to be revealed regarding the motives and those involved.
