2025 was a particularly successful year for tourism in Cyprus, with a record number of arrivals from Germany after 28 years. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, pointed out that the German market has been the largest in the world for outbound tourism and that Cyprus has managed to significantly increase arrivals from this market, reaching 250,000, surpassing the previous record of 1997. The improvement of air connectivity with Germany, through both Cypriot airports, is considered particularly important, as German tourists prefer to visit different regions of the country. The Deputy Ministry of Tourism seeks to ensure that the benefits of tourism are spread throughout the Republic of Cyprus. Furthermore, Cyprus was distinguished at a pan-European level for its tourism performance in 2025. According to the Aviation Council International report, Cyprus ranks first in the improvement of air connectivity compared to 2024 and second compared to 2019. Also, Cyprus ranks first in the increase of tourism revenue for the first half of the year among Mediterranean countries and first in the increase of overnight stays in tourist accommodations compared to 2023. Mr. Koumis stressed that Cypriot tourism businesses have recorded another successful year, which gives them the opportunity to develop further.
