EU-Mercosur Trade Agreement to be Signed in Paraguay on January 17th

The trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur is expected to be signed in Paraguay on January 17th. The Argentinian Foreign Minister described the agreement as “historic and ambitious,” while the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, hailed it as a “victory for dialogue” and a significant step for multilateralism. The agreement will create one of the largest free trade zones in the world, with over 700 million consumers, facilitating exports and imports between the two blocs. However, the agreement raises concerns in some European sectors due to increased imports of products such as meat and soybeans.
