Spectacular Aurora Borealis Captured from Space During Strong Geomagnetic Storm

Cosmonaut Sergei Kud-Sverchkov captured stunning images of the Aurora Borealis from the International Space Station during a powerful geomagnetic storm. The aurora is caused by solar storms emitting charged particles that collide with gases in the Earth's atmosphere. Kud-Sverchkov described the intense red glow he observed, stating it felt like floating within the light. This storm was one of the strongest in the last 20 years, with the last comparable event recorded in October 2003. These images offer a unique perspective of the natural phenomenon from space.
