Twelve Missing Persons Identified in 2025 – Remains of 20 Individuals Found in Excavations

The Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) has announced that twelve missing persons have been identified in 2025, while excavations in eight locations have uncovered remains estimated to correspond to 20 individuals. CMP Greek Cypriot representative Leonidas Pantelidis emphasized the importance of information flow from the public for more effective investigation of cases. The identifications come from findings from previous years, with some completed this year. The CMP conducted nearly 130 excavations this year, approximately 20% more than last year, with eight of them yielding findings. The committee has sufficient personnel for nine teams, while continuing to seek information from the public to locate more burial sites.
