Nikos Tornaritis Elected Vice President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly

MP Nikos Tornaritis was unanimously elected Vice President of the Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) for 2026, during a session preceding the Plenary Assembly. The election was preceded by a tribute from the APA Secretary-General, who reiterated Mr. Tornaritis' long-standing and significant contribution to strengthening dialogue, cooperation, and parliamentary diplomacy within the organization. In his reply, Mr. Tornaritis expressed his gratitude for the election and recognition, emphasizing that it reflects Cyprus' and the House of Representatives' longstanding commitment to the goals of the APA. He highlighted that his twelve years of participation in the Assembly had been a constructive experience, not only politically but also personally, fostering mutual respect and the development of meaningful relationships. The Cypriot MP stressed Cyprus' consistent contribution to the work of the APA, highlighting its role as a bridge for dialogue and cooperation between states and peoples. He expressed his belief that the established relationships of trust would remain strong and pledged to continue offering his services to the Assembly. Mr. Tornaritis' election is a recognition of Cyprus as an active and reliable member of the APA, as well as his personal efforts to promote the principles and objectives of the organization. The Assembly is expected to approve the agenda and resolutions prepared by its Standing Committees.
