Train Derailment in Southern Mexico: 13 Dead, Dozens Injured

A train carrying 250 passengers derailed in the state of Oaxaca, southern Mexico, resulting in at least 13 deaths and 98 injuries. Authorities announced that 139 people are out of danger. The train was traveling from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos, using the new Corredor Interoceánico railway line, which connects the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. This line, a major infrastructure project promoted by the previous government, was inaugurated in 2023. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the derailment, while a similar incident occurred on the same line in December, without any casualties.
