Switzerland Freezes Assets of Maduro and Associates

Switzerland has decided to 'freeze' any assets held by Nicolás Maduro and his associates, following the arrest of the Venezuelan president by the United States. The measure, which will be in effect for four years, aims to prevent the outflow of illicit funds and is a continuation of the sanctions imposed on Venezuela since 2018. It is noted that the freezing of assets does not affect members of the current Venezuelan government. Switzerland has stated that it will seek the return of illegally obtained funds, for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.
