Children's Association Donates €30,000 in Equipment for Autistic Children at Larnaca Hospital

The Children's Association of Larnaca is donating €30,000 worth of equipment to the Physiotherapy Department of Larnaca General Hospital for use by autistic children. The equipment includes sensory integration tools such as swings, hammocks, trampolines, and climbing walls, designed to promote movement, proprioception, and the development of auditory and motor skills. Association President Elita Katsarona stated that the association, founded 93 years ago, operates discreetly, providing assistance to those in need. The decision to donate the equipment came after communication with the Director of the Physiotherapy Department, who highlighted the urgent need for equipment in the sensory integration room. The association also provides daily breakfast to approximately 45 students in Larnaca’s secondary schools and gymnasiums, as well as monthly grocery shopping for 40 families. Additionally, it supports another 40 families during Christmas, Easter, and the Assumption of Mary. The Children's Association of Larnaca also assists students with tutoring to help them succeed in their university studies. The association has also created a library with an activity room for children under 18, at a cost of approximately €50,000, following a suggestion by the Mayor of Larnaca.
