Gender Equality Commissioner Hails New Law as 'Decisive Step'

The Commissioner for Gender Equality, Jozi Christodoulou, has hailed the passage of the “Law on the Incorporation of the Gender Dimension of 2026” as a “decisive step” towards achieving substantial equality between women and men. The new law makes gender equality a key factor in the formulation of public policy and the state budget. It introduces a systematic process for assessing the impact of state decisions on men and women, with the aim of strengthening social justice and fairer resource allocation. Furthermore, it institutionalizes the collection of gender-disaggregated statistics for the design of more effective policies.
