Venezuela Urgently Requests UN Security Council Meeting, Accusing US of Attempting to Plunder Natural Resources

Venezuela is urgently requesting an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, denouncing an armed attack by the United States. The Venezuelan government describes the US actions as a “premeditated act of aggression” and a violation of the UN Charter, comparing the attack to the naval blockade of 1902. It is invoking its right to self-defense and demands that the Security Council condemn the attack, call for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of US forces, and hold the US government accountable. Venezuela argues that the real reason for the attack is the US attempt to plunder the country’s oil reserves. Russia and China have already expressed their support for Venezuela.
