Cyprus to Participate in Joint Military Exercises with Greece and Israel

Cyprus will participate in joint military exercises with Greece and Israel in 2026, as part of the General Staff of the National Guard's (GEEF) activity planning. The Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, stated that the exercises will include training of the three armies, staff training, and joint military exercises. These exercises aim to improve the capabilities of the three armies and are part of a broader effort to strengthen military cooperation between Cyprus, Greece, and Israel. Cyprus has already signed agreements for exercises with Egypt, Jordan, and other friendly countries. The signing of the agreement for the exercises with Greece and Israel concerns the conduct of the exercises as described by the Minister of Defence. The dates of the exercises have not yet been determined and will be decided by the military staffs of the three countries, depending on needs and conditions. It is worth noting that a joint naval exercise between Cyprus, Greece, and Egypt was held last November, highlighting the ongoing military cooperation in the region.
