In the early hours of January 23, 2026, a medical evacuation operation was carried out for a patient from a ship located 125 nautical miles south of Limassol. The Larnaca Coordination Center for Search and Rescue (CCESR) activated the National Plan E-D NEARCHOS to respond to the need. A helicopter from the Police Air Operations Unit, with a specialized nurse from the Ambulance Service of the OKYPY, was used for the medical air evacuation. The patient was transported to the Nicosia General Hospital for further medical care. The operation was successful, ensuring timely medical assistance to the patient.
