Cyprus is at the center of developments in the US, as the US House Foreign Affairs Committee approved a bill concerning the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East Economic Corridor (IMEC). The bill, promoted by Jewish and Greek-American lawmakers, recognizes Cyprus, Greece, Egypt, and Israel as key US partners in the region. It seeks to strengthen cooperation in the areas of defense and security, as well as promote the exploitation of natural gas reserves in Cyprus, with meetings between technocrats and Exxon-Mobil representatives currently underway.
